What’s good, YouTube! It’s your boy Tony D2Wild checking in once again, and today, we’re diving into the Glock 17L. If you’re unfamiliar with the 17L, this is the long version of the Glock 17, designed specifically for competition shooting.

The Glock 17L is a true competitor’s gun, featuring a 6-inch barrel and a longer overall length of 9.45 inches. It’s an MOS (Modular Optic System) model, which allows for optic mounting right out of the box with the included MOS plates. However, I ran into a small hiccup during testing— I used the wrong screws for the optic, and it came off, so I shot the rest of the video using the iron sights.

Trigger and Performance: The Glock 17L comes with a 24 Newton trigger, which is slightly lighter than the typical Glock 19’s 25-26 Newton trigger. It’s designed for competition use, offering a smoother pull compared to a standard Glock trigger. Though I do think the performance trigger might still be a bit better, this one is designed specifically to help you excel in competitions.

Specs:

  • Barrel Length: 6.02 inches

  • Overall Length: 9.45 inches

  • Slide Length: 8.86 inches

  • Weight (unloaded): 25.4 oz

  • Weight (loaded): 32.45 oz

  • Standard Capacity: 17+1 rounds (you can also use 10- or 24-round magazines)

  • Trigger Distance: 2.76 inches

Despite being top-heavy, the Glock 17L feels well-balanced when shooting due to the extra weight at the end of the barrel, which helps keep the muzzle down and reduces recoil. The recoil impulse is similar to shooting with a suppressor— it feels like the gun is absorbing more of the recoil, making it less snappy than other Glocks I’ve shot.

Additional Features:

  • Ambidextrous slide release with a unique design that makes mag swaps easier

  • Dust cover and extended slide release for better performance in competitions

  • Back straps to adjust the grip to your preference

I’m not a competition shooter, but I shot this Glock 17L surprisingly well. The extra barrel length and longer sight radius make it a fantastic option for precision shooting. Team Brazil and many competition shooters love the Glock 17 and the 17L, and this one definitely holds its own in the field.

If you’re looking for a high-performance pistol for competition or just want a unique Glock in your collection, the Glock 17L is a great option. It’s not designed for concealed carry, but it’s perfect for the competition range.

As always, thanks for watching! Peace out.
